Handcart Trek

In June, we were asked to be Ma and Pas on a Handcart Trek that the Taylor, AZ Stake put on. This is great experience for the youth to gain a testimony of the Mormon Pioneers that sacrificed their lives to establish the church. It was neat to be put into families, not knowing anyone, and becoming a Trek Family after a few days. These kids will always be considered my friends and my children forever. I love them all and have kept in contact with them on facebook. I am so grateful for the opportunity to go on the handcart trek and strengthening my testimony of the church as well. I will never forget the experiences we had and would definatly go on a Handcart Trek again!

This was a little event that Jr. Red and John Wayne competed in. Its called the boot scramble. The kids took off their boots and had to run where they were piled up in the middle of the arena and find their boots, put them on, then run back to the finnish line. Jr. Red got 1st place and John Wayne got 2nd place. The first place winner got a brand new pair of boots at Mr. Boots Western Wear. So we got a pair of Anderson Bean high top boots. Retailed at $120! You cannot purchase Anderson Bean Boots in AZ. So he LOVES his boots and wears them everywhere.

How much are we prepared? We need to hope for the best but plan for the worst. Here is a helpful tool to evaluate how much food your personal family needs for one year. Take a goal and work on it, if its buying 24lbs of salt in one trip. (Thats our family recommendation) Cheap, cheap. At Walmart salt was on sale for .50 cents per pound. That would only be $12 of salt for the year. No prop! Check it out and evaluate your year supply.

New Family Pictures

'Bout time that we got a new family picture. We actually got them taken 3 times in 3 months by different photographers. These here are my fav from Erica Shurter. Go to her blog and check her out. She was fast and brought candy for the boys. John Wayne just woke up from a nap right before we took the pictures and was not happy and cranky, but you would never know by the pictures. Highly recomend her to everyone in the White Mountains!

Bear!!

Quite the story behind these picutres. Me, MyLove and the kids took a drive to a secret spot to check for bear sign at a place that I was going to hunt my first bear. Right when we got in the area, what do you know, A BEAR! He didnt spook when we saw him so MyLove filmed him and made sure the kids saw him.... We didnt want to bother him, so we could get in there in the morning and get him. Right when we drove off, BANG, BANG! Ah, thats our bear. Someone shot him. Anyways we met up with him, who turned out to be a neat young man. He even let me, and the boys in on the fun and help track the bear. What a neat experience, to see something so fresh and meeting another great hunter!

Fundraiser

I have created a blog in dedication to my mother-in-law who is currently battling an awful case of Leukemia. We are going to have a fundraiser for her Oct. 9th, 2010, at the OLS Community Center, in Taylor, AZ. The Navajo Taco Dinner will start at 5:30, ($5/plate or $20/family) and have a live auction at 6:30. There will also be a Bake Sale and Silent Auction as well that night.

I am organizing a fund raiser for my mother-in-law, who has been diaganosed with Philadelphia Postive Acute Lymphobalstic Leukemia. She is currently getting chemotherapy treatments in Zion, IL. The date and place isn't confirmed yet. I will post as soon as it is.

These babies aren't even a day old. Born June 1st, 2010.
Ah, they are so cute I cant hardly stand it! Since this is Sweet Creams first set of babies, I have to break her to milk. So we'll see how this goes, wish me luck!...

Texas!!!

Our trip to Texas was so fun! I am going to post some of the major stops that we did there. Its going to be a big post, cause Everything is BIG in TEXAS, as you will find out. So here we are in Fort worth for Sam's brothers Graduation from TCU Ranch Management. I didn't bring my camera at the graduation but got this picture the next day at the building where he went to class. What a beautiful city, if you could call a city beautiful, my favorite in Texas.
In Forth Worth we went and saw some different sites. Here were are at the Stockyards. There were so many bronze statues and some huge figurines. Eveything thing is bigger in Texas.

We came back to Amarillo to stay for a few days. Here we are at the Big Texan, where Brooke has a part time job Fiddling. While we were eating the gutiarist that Brooke would play with asked if me and Brooke wanted to play a song. So we jumped up there and played him one. It was so fun. What a neat place, and I highly recomend if you are driving through Amarillo stop there and enjoy a steak and have great fun while your are at it.

They have a shooting range that you shoot all sorts of crazy things.

Like I said Everything IS BIGGER in Texas!!

We also got to spend Mothers Day together. Also being Mothers Day all the family got to talk to my brother John who is on a mission in Mexico City. Then we squeezed Brooke in some pressure points and got her labor to kick in. What a day!...

Weston and Baby Boots. They are 6 months apart.

Yeay, Brooke had her baby May 10, 2010 (5/10/10) at 5:10 am. Kinda cool with the numbers. They named her Madison May Kenny. What a beautiful baby!

We spent 31 hours in that car round trip!! But the boys were troopers and did better than I thought.

Here John Wayne fell asleep with jerkey in his mouth. He still has a peice in his hand also.

The last stop was Catillac Ranch just out of Amarillo. The boys thought it was silly that there was so many colorful cars sticking out of the ground.

It was sucha great trip. Cant wait to go again!

Horned Toad

The boys found a horned toad while they were playing in the yard.

I showed them how horned toads stick to your shirt, so Jr. Red kept it on his for a while.

Then John Wayne wanted to give it a try. So I put it on his shirt and it slowly started to crawl up to his neck. I just crack up at John Waynes expression because right after I took this picture, he let out the funniest scream. You can see it comming in his picture. I still laugh at it... It is the very bottom picture...

AZ Dinosaur Museum

The Miller Family have a tradition to go visit different museums and such in the Spring. So we decided to go to the Arizona Museum of Natural History in Mesa. I suggested this one cause the boys right now have a huge fascination with dinosaurs right now. So this was a perfect place to go. When you first walk in there is this huge Mammoth skelleton. It was breathtaking... T.T. Always asks How big are mammoths or dinosaurs and this clearly explained all his little questions.

They had full size animated dinos there too with an indoor waterfall.

Here is a metorite that a blacksmith in Tuscon used as an anvil. Do you know how much that thing is worth? Well if an oz of gold is at $1200, metorites are 8 times more valuable than gold...Do the math!...

There was some cool experiments that the kids got to do. Black lights are so fun!

St. Patrick's Day!

Every year for St. Patrick's Day we have a leperchan hunt. We have a 6 ft. tall, inflatable leperchan that is hidden on our property. He leaves a trail of shamrocks and gold coins, weaving all around the trees.

The boys get buckets and collect all the coins and shamrocks. They follow the trail until they find the leperchan.

They get so excited to find him in a new place every year.

Here they are with their St. Pactrick's Day shirts that they made.

John Waynes says, "Kiss me, I'm Irish"...

Jr.Reds says, "Leperchan Hunter" and T.T.s says, "4 Leaf Clover".

T.T.'s teacher wanted us to bring a Green treat for his class. So we decided to make Mother Goose Popcorn. A recipie that my mom used to make when we were little. Its a really great and easy recipie.

Mother Goose Popcorn

2 Tbs. Butter

3/4 cup Milk

2 cups Sugar

6 quarts Popcorn

Melt butter, milk and sugar in a pot on the stove. Boil until it reaches soft, firm ball stage. (It is the stage when you take a drop of the sauce, and drop it into cool clear water. When it all stays together in a soft drop, it done.) Quickly pour it onto 6 quarts of popcorn. Stir well, and lay out on a baking sheet. Enjoy!

I love St. Patricks Day! Every year my boys are visited by a leperchan that leaves a trail of shamrocks and coins around our property. At the end of the trail is a giant 6 ft tall leperchan that has a bucket of golden treasures! My boys love the hunt and excitment of finding their treasures!

T.T. Outstanding Citizenship Award #2

T.T. was chosen to recieve the Outstanding Citizenship Award for the second time this year. Since it is the second time he also recieved a Taco Bell gift certificate for a taco and small soda. He was so excited to get a pop of his own!

Super-Duper Pizza Recipie

Pizza Crust

1 envelope Dry Yeast (2 1/4 tsp)

1 tsp. Sugar

3/4 c. luke warm Water

1 3/4 c. Flour

1/2 tsp. Salt

Mix the yeast, sugar and water. Let it bubble. Then add the flour and salt. Beat for 5 min. Roll out on your pan. Add all the rest or your pizza toppings, (sauce, cheese, exc.). Bake 475 deg. for 12- 15 min.

Brooke gave me this pizza recipie. She told me how good it was and so I wanted to try it out...Wow... This IS the best home-made pizza crust that I have had, so I want to share it. As you can tell it was half way gone before I pulled the camera out to capture the moment. All the other home-made crusts that I have had were always toasted on the outside and doughy in the middle. Not this one. Perfectly cooked!...Try it out!

Movie Night

We blessed Baby Boots on my parents anniversary, Labor Day Weekend, but I never got pictures of the baby and the family. Its a little late but at least I got a picture of all the boys all dressed up for church. Heres Baby Boots at 6 months old.

Homemade Laundry Detergent!

There are only 3 ingredients in this detergent. No fillers or harmful chemicals in it. You know exactly what is in it! You can find all the ingredients in the same soap isle. Use any brand of laundry bar that is avaliable. You can buy a 2 year supply of detergent for under $50. How about that kind of savings!
Laundry Detergent
1 laundry bar, any brand, grated up finely
1 1/2 cups Borax
3 cups Washing Soda

After you have grated the laundry bar, combine the Borax and Washing Soda in a large bowl. All you need is 1 Tablespoon of the detergent for a normal size load. If you have heavier soiled clothes or a larger load use 2 Tbs.

Bar D Wranglers

We had the oppritunity to watch the -D Wranglers perform in Snowflake, Feb 4th, 2010. What a neat show. Here is MyLove, Matt Palmer and his son after the show. It was fun to see Matt after so many years. The Palmer Family were friends of our family back before all of us kids were married. Back in the Good ol' Days...

Jr. Red and John Wayne were at the table while I was making a pair of chaps. Of course just like any other kids, they wanted to make something also. So a little later, Jr. Red said, "Mommy look what I made." I turned around and saw this on his head. I thought that was so funny and cute. MyLove and I just had to laugh! What a Kodak moment!

MyLove shaved his mustash

Well I guess not having a job leads people to do crazy things when their board. MyLove mentioned that he wanted me to trim his mustash. so I said "Just go cut it off." He didn't think I was that serious until I grabed the sissors. So he did it. He has had the stash before T.T. was born, and shaved it off once in 2005. The boys were pretty shocked when they saw him. John Wayne, was about to cry and Jr. Red said, "Now you are the same as Momma." That just cracked us all up. It took a while for me to get used to it but now I like it. He may leave it off for a while. Who knows, he may miss it also...What do you all think?...

I am so greatful expecially this year for our warm home. On Monday our breaker poped, so MyLove turuned it back on and we heard a huge pop in the kitchen. We looked where it came from and one of the outlets was extremely HOT! So we fliped the breaker back off and let the outlet cool off. A litte later MyLove unscrewed the outlet and found it had been toasted! Luckly out house didn't start on fire. That is one of the main causes for house fires. So we changed that one a checked a few others for faults. I dont want to ask Santa for a new house this year!

Heres Peanut and her 2 babies. Along with Sweet Cream down by the fence.

This picture is my prime milker, Ginger. Shes the best goat that we have. Eventhough she has horns, she is so gentle and loves to be pet by the kids.

This is Ginger and the baby she had this year, Zena. MyLoves dad loves the baby cause she so nice like her mom. She also is the only goat that the horses like. She can play and eat right under their bellies.

Here is Sweet Cream, the goat Brooke raised, and the 2 other white babies Peanut had this year.
The babies got named by the neighbors, Mike and Mary. But I prefer not to name ones that we will butcher. Goat meat is one of the healthest red meat you can eat. So is goat milk. It truely saved John Wayne, from his asthma. He loves warm, "freshly squeezed" milk now.

Back in the back is the seventh goat we had pastured out in Vernon. She is a pigmy goat that MyLoves cousin gave to us. Since she is so little all the other goats pick on her. So we will sell her soon for someone else to enjoy.

Heres Baby Boots at 3 months. He is sitll a good boy, thanks goodness, we don't need another thing to go crazy about. He always has his eyes wide and alert and doesn't miss a thing. Just wish he would grow some hair, he he. He still so darn cute!

Mexi Eggrolls

We had an enrichment potluck night. The theme was any recipie that had beans in it. Well someone brought these Mexi eggrolls. It sounds kinda funny, but they are AWSOME!

2 1/2 cups shredded chicken

1 1/2 cups shredded mexican cheese

2/3 cup corn

2/3 cup canned black beans, drained and rinsed

5 green onions, chopped

1/4 cup cliantro, chopped

1 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp grated lime peel

1 pkg eggroll wraps

oil for frying

Dip:

1 cup ranch dressing

2 ripe avocados

1 T cilantro, chopped

1 tsp grated lime peel

In a large bowl, combine first 9 ingredients. Place a spoon ful of filling in each wrap and roll up. Fry in oil 2 min on each side. Combine dip ingerdients. Serve with eggrolls. Enjoy!

Ok, I know all boys seem to go through a "cowboy" stage, but I think my John Wayne hit the hardest out of my boys.

He got ready for church, put his spurs on his boots and proceeded out the door. "Uh, John Wayne, I dont think Jesus wants us to wear spurs at church." I told him. Oh my goodness! That was the fight of the week. And finally we got him convinced that when he comes home he can put them back on. He was later fine with that.

So the next day I took these pictures of him and it seemed to satisfy him for a little bit seeing himself on the camera.

This is the diaper cake I made for Whittney Solomon. I wanted to make a "John Deere" theme but the ribbon selection here in Taylor is pathetic. So this is what it ended up like. "Country Sunflower" theme don't you think?

There is a huge baby wash inside it and little lotions and washes, pacifiers, and diaper cream that I stuck on it also. Hope she likes it...

T.T. was choosen from his kindergarten class to recieve the Outstanding Citizenship Award!

He looks really thirlled...doesn't he?

He was supposed to go up infront of the whole school when his name was called and stand by his principle with the other kids. It was really hard for him at first cause he is extremely shy but he did it!

Apache Co. Fair

At the fair there was a booth with this race car. It was to show the effects of drunk driving. So MyLove wanted to try.

MyLove put on these silly glassed that distorted his vision and had to drive on this video game. He was doing good around 15 mph so we told him to go faster. He his around 70 mph and went all over the road then eventually crashed. Good thing he doesn't drink!

To make sure the kids didn't run away we had them hold each others hands. Here is JohnWayne, Kessie (cousin), and Jr.Red. Aren't they cute?

Wow, today is our anniversary. We've been married for 7 years. We've had 4 boys, lived in 6 different houses and owned 5 different vehicles. Time sure does fly when you love what you have! I love you, MyLove(I just took this picture of one we had of our engagment photos. Bad quality I know but it is the only one I have right now. I love this one. Ignore the date. It is stuck.)

MyLoves family got asked to play for a Pinetop ward party a few weeks ago. It was held at George Wallaces house in Vernon. There was a professional photographer in the ward that took pictures of everything. Luckly she took ours. She did a great job!

Heres the group. All we are missing is Wes, MyLoves brother, who just moved to Texas. He got axcepted to go to a Ranch Management College in Ft. Worth. There is only 30 that get axcepted out of 500 applicants!

Heres MyLove singing away. He has a great voice but doesn't like singing in crowds.

Chilton got to play his dads Guild Guitar because one of the cowboys that he was bunking with while he was working at the Dude Ranch in Alpine, snaped the neck off his personal guitar. None of the cowboys confessed who did it and Chilton is so nice that he left it be. What is he thinking?!

We are so excited that he got to play with us. It was the first time since he's been home. from his mission that we got to play together. He also learned a song in Spanish and sung it that night. Way Cool!!

Saturday Mom, Brittany and I Drove to Texas as fast as we could to race to Texas. Brooke called at 11:00 and said her water broke so we went to Briana's baby shower and then packed up and took off. We arrived in Texas 12:30 pm. Brooke had Weston at 9:20 Texas time. She sure had a quick delivery. She went through her whole hospital stay without any pain killers or even Tylenol! What A Women!

Does any one want some puppies? Well these aren't them. But aren't they cute?We had this litter in the spring, but our female Meg is pregnate again. So we will have a litter of puppies around Thanksgiving. (we think) Im just giving the heads up! We think she was bred by the neighbors Border Collie. So well have full Border Collies this time. The puppies in the picture were half Border Collie and Lab. We kept one and shes the best dog we have!

We got to go into a neat petting zoo and feed the animals. I didn't care too much about feeding the goats because we have our own at home, but it was cool to feed the exotic deer!
